Overeem Says He Will Fight in December

Alistair Overeem’s debacle with the UFC is the MMA equivalent to putting all your eggs in one basket and then hurling that basket off the rooftop of the Empire State Building. Seriously, the guy didn’t just fail his drug test, but he failed leading up to the most anticipated HW title match in recent memory. The Reem optimistically took to twitter claiming he will be fighting in the octagon this December. His suspension ends on December 27^th and the final UFC event of the year will likely take place December 29^th. This gives him exactly 48 hours to apply and receive his license. While it’s entirely possible Overeem will fight this year, it’s highly unlikely he will be given an immediate title shot. He broke the trust of Zuffa execs and fans alike, and he will need to rebuild that trust by staying clean.
