Rich Franklin is now 2-0 against Wanderlei Silva; the most
recent win is even more impressive because Franklin took the fight on short
notice and fought Wandy in his home country of Brazil. Post-fight, Franklin
expressed interest in making one more run at the middleweight title, which was unceremoniously
taken from him via the knees of Anderson Silva six years ago. Since then
Franklin has been in and out of the win column posting a record of 7-4. I like
Rich, but at almost 38 years old, his better days are behind him and I don’t
see him posing much of a threat to the upper echelon of the division. But Rich
bailed the UFC out huge taking this fight, and if he is serious about making a
title run I think Dana White will oblige. My best guess is that Franklin will
be paired with Bisping later this year.
