I have accepted that Clay Guida’s performance Friday was a
poorly executed game plan. Still, he did what was in his best interest, he
wanted no part of Maynard’s striking power, nor did he want to find himself
underneath The Bully. In fact, Guida did exactly what I would have done against
Maynard, only I would have cried. Still, he lost the fight, and judging by the
booing, several fans. Dana White was very critical calling the fight an “[expletive][expletive][expletive]”
and the internet has been ablaze with Guida bashing. So where does he go from
here? Dropping his last 2 has effectively shut him out of the title picture and
given his performance I doubt he will be given a high profile opponent his next
time out. I would like to see him paired with Melvin Guillard, both fighters
are on 2 fight losing streaks and in desperate need of a win.
